Prices and time calculation

Hourly rates are listed on the prices page and already include VAT. For larger jobs we prepare a personal quote in advance, unless agreed otherwise.

  • The minimum charge for moving and transport is the price of one hour (unless stated otherwise for the service or in the quote, e.g. 2 hours when hiring workers).
  • After the first hour we count time in quarter hours, and every started quarter hour counts. Example: the job took 1 h 6 min – 1 h 15 min is billed.
  • The standard hourly rate applies Mon–Fri; the rate is higher on Saturday and highest on Sunday.
02

Start and end of work, travel time

Tallinn area

Kesklinn, Kadriorg, Kristiine, Põhja-Tallinn, Mustamäe, the near part of Lasnamäe and the near part of Nõmme. No travel time is added here: the clock starts when the workers arrive on site and stops when the last item is in place and the customer has signed the delivery note (handover certificate).

Harju County area

Laagri, Pääsküla, Kakumäe, Pirita, Pirita-Kose, Merivälja, Mähe, the far end of Lasnamäe, Tiskre, Harku, Peetri, Luige, Järveküla, Loo, Muraste, Haabneeme, Randvere, Pärnamäe, Kose, as well as Viimsi, Harku, Rae, Saue, Maardu, Saku, Kiili and Jõelähtme parishes and places further away.

  • If the loading or unloading address is outside Tallinn, the drive from our base to the site and, after the job, back to the base is added to the working time.
  • Our base is at Mustamäe tee 6b, Tallinn; route and travel time are taken from Google Maps.
  • Loading and unloading time is charged according to the service price list.

Outside Harju County

The drive to the site and back to the base is charged either by time or per kilometre (see prices, €/km). Otherwise the same rules apply.

03

Transport, moving and hiring workers – what is the difference?

Transport service (van service, cargo transport, delivery to the door)

A vehicle with a driver. Suitable when there is a reasonable amount to load: the driver can manage alone, and loading and unloading take up to 15 minutes each. The goods must be on a loading ramp or right by the front door.

  • The driver lifts items up to 30 kg by hand; euro pallets are loaded with a pallet truck, other goods with trolleys or the customer’s forklift.
  • If you book transport for a move, the driver helps arrange and secure the load in the cargo space, but the customer does the carrying.
  • Carrying items up to the floor is not included in the transport service price.

Moving service

Any job that needs physical strength, i.e. carrying – with or without a vehicle. It is also worth booking the moving service for cargo transport when loading takes longer and one or two extra people are needed.

Hiring workers

A mover, building materials lifter or furniture assembler working on site by the hour. Rates and minimum charges are on the prices page.

04

Special lifts

Within the standard hourly rate, one mover lifts items up to 30 kg and two movers together up to ~80 kg. A special lift is a job where:

  • a single item weighs over 80 kg and has to be lifted by hand;
  • the item will not fit through doors, corridors or other narrow spaces with reasonable effort;
  • special equipment is needed for lifting (lifting straps, stair-climbing robot, crane; a pallet truck is not special equipment);
  • items have to be carried up or down a spiral staircase.

A special lift costs from 120 €/h (two movers, one item); for several heavy items we agree a per-item price. The price is agreed in writing before the job.

If a heavy or bulky item was not mentioned in the request, we agree the price on site and do the job if we have the necessary equipment with us. The crew has the right to refuse a special lift that was not notified in advance.

05

Request, order and scope of work

An order is considered accepted once it has been confirmed by e-mail. By phone we give information and advice, but a booking made by phone must be confirmed by e-mail – otherwise it is not valid. By filling in the request form, the customer confirms they have read and agree to these terms.

What should I put in the request?

  • preferred date and time (or a suitable time window);
  • exact loading and unloading addresses (building, apartment, city);
  • floor, lift, stairwell width, long or narrow corridors, spiral staircase;
  • what and how much to move: boxes, bags, furniture, appliances – dimensions of larger items;
  • whether you need packing, furniture disassembly and assembly, or platform trolleys;
  • how many movers you want (with one mover someone has to help or the job has to be small);
  • whether you will ride along in the vehicle and the best way to reach the building.

The more precisely you describe the job, the more accurate the price and time estimate. The scope of work can be changed or increased up to 24 hours before the agreed time.

If it turns out on site that the job is significantly bigger than described in the request, the crew may do part of the work and offer a new time to finish, or decline the order. The crew has several orders a day, and one incorrectly described job delays other customers’ moves too.

06

Booking and cancellation

  • For a larger move, book 1–2 weeks ahead; for a smaller one, 3–5 days ahead.
  • Weekends and the end of the month (when leases end) fill up fastest – book them early.
  • An order can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before the agreed start.
  • If the customer cancels later than 24 hours before the start, the price of one hour at the hourly rate agreed in the quote must be paid.
  • If the order was confirmed less than 24 hours before the job, it can be cancelled no later than 8 hours before the start.
  • Cancellations by e-mail only: info@kojuvedu.ee.
07

Working hours, evening and night rates

At the standard hourly rate we work Mon–Fri 8–18, Sat 10–18 and Sun 12–18. Other times by arrangement – we also work evenings and weekends.

  • The standard hourly rate applies if the job ends by 18:00 at the latest. If a longer job started before 16:00, the standard rate applies until 20:00.
  • If the job starts at 17:30–18:00 or later, 15% is added to the hourly rate until 23:00 (evening rate).
  • From 23:00, 30% is added to the hourly rate (night rate).
Example

14 m³ van + 2 movers (84 €/h Mon–Fri) – the job starts at 14:00 and ends at 01:00:

14–18: 4 h × 84 € = 336 €
18–23: 5 h × 96.60 € (+15%) = 483 €
23–01: 2 h × 109.20 € (+30%) = 218.40 €
Total 1037.40 €

08

What does the moving service price include?

  • the required number of movers and a vehicle;
  • disassembly and assembly of simple furniture (more complex assembly ordered separately);
  • moving equipment, lifting and tie-down straps;
  • packing (packing materials – bubble wrap, film, boxes – at extra cost);
  • loading and unloading to any floor (within the weight rules);
  • VAT.

The price does not include special lifts, packing materials, paid parking, or travel time or per-kilometre charges outside Tallinn.

09

Packing

  • Belongings must be properly packed before the move or transport – either by the customer or by us.
  • If you would like us to pack, mention it in the request so we bring the necessary materials. Packing is charged by working time plus the cost of materials.
  • If the customer packs, the packaging must protect the items during normal handling and transport.
  • If the customer declines packing, we are not liable for breakage, soiling, scratches or other defects of unpacked items.
10

Parking

  • It is the customer’s job to arrange a parking space or permit for the moving vehicle as close to the building door as possible – blocking the roadway is not allowed.
  • A good tip: the day before, leave a note on the stairwell door so that the space is free for the vehicle at the agreed time.
  • If the vehicle has to park further away, carrying takes longer and so does the working time.
  • Paid parking is added to the bill based on the parking receipt.
11

Moving abroad and from abroad

For moves to Finland, Sweden and other countries we make a personal quote. It takes into account:

  • the round trip depending on the service (route according to Google Maps);
  • loading and unloading time;
  • ferry tickets and waiting time in port, and if needed overnight stays and road tolls.

These costs are listed in the quote. International moving and cargo transport are paid as 100% prepayment before the job starts. See also moving to Finland and moving to Sweden.

12

Payment

  • For international moving and cargo transport (Finland, Sweden and other countries), 100% prepayment is required before the job starts.
  • Private customers pay in cash right after the job, based on the delivery note.
  • Companies pay either in cash after the job or by bank transfer. We send the invoice the same or the next day, with a payment term of 1 calendar day.
  • If the invoice is to be issued to a company of which the person ordering is not a board member, we need a signed power of attorney from the company (authorising that person to act on its behalf) and a letter of guarantee (the company guarantees payment).
  • For partners and contract customers who use our service regularly (2–3 times a week), payment terms are by agreement.
13

Liability, delivery note and claims

  • We are liable for damage caused by our staff to the customer’s property or building during loading or transport.
  • We are not liable for breakage or defects of property that the customer packed inadequately or incorrectly, or did not pack at all. For property packed by us, we are responsible for it arriving intact.
  • We are not liable for damage or injury caused by the customer or other people not connected with us (e.g. friends helping to carry).
  • The property being moved must belong to the customer, or the customer must have the right to move it. We do not get involved in questions of where property comes from or how it is divided – we work according to the customer’s instructions and the customer is responsible for this.
  • An item must fit through doors and narrow spaces with reasonable effort. We do not remove doors, windows or walls without prior agreement.
  • After the job the customer receives a delivery note (handover certificate): start and end time, working time, materials used and the total amount. By signing it, the customer confirms that the property has arrived and there are no claims – please check that everything is in order before signing.
  • Claims can be submitted in writing by e-mail to info@kojuvedu.ee within 3 calendar days. Claims submitted later will not be processed.
  • We resolve disputes primarily through negotiation; failing agreement, under Estonian law.
